I am Jonathan Wilson and I am a member of the Tech Team here at Durham Evangelical Church. My role in the team is for the most part hardware management. I deal with things ranging from broken fans and CD drives to configuring and installing network hard drives.
My experience on the team is different than that of my experiences on the Worship Team. The Worship Team is much more “in your face”. You see it every Sunday, and if something goes wrong you notice. In the Tech Team things are different. Sure, people notice when a computer breaks, but most people don’t know or notice that we use a 48 port HP switch, or that we have a 2 terabyte hard drive backing up our servers (and that it is full…). Moreover, most people don’t notice when these things change.
We are a small team, and we are a close team. We all know each other, and we know each others strengths. Being a small team we get to see into everyone’s lives a little more than you would on the larger teams.
We are a bunch of nerds. But, we are friendly. We always welcome the chance to help people from the church if they have tech questions.
So we exist in the background, if you need us, seek us out, and we will do our best to help you!
